Country Director Timor Leste (maternity leave placement 12 months)

Marie Stopes International (MSI) is an international not-for-profit, non-government organisation delivering life-saving sexual and reproductive health programs in over 40 countries, serving over 5 million women and men every year. 

We are looking for a passionate, experienced and enthusiastic leader to join our Timor Leste team as the Country Director. Based in our Dili office, the role reports to the Regional Director in Australia and is focused on driving a high growth program, and delivering effective reproductive health outcomes for the people of Timor Leste in partnership with the Ministry of Health. This role will appeal to someone who is patient, flexible and a great leader.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

·         Providing leadership to the MSITL team to develop, implement, and expand the national programme efficiently and effectively

·         Developing and maintaining excellent external relations and resource development

·         Strategic development and annual business planning

·         Ensuring effective financial management, accounting systems and internal controls are maintained

·         Ensuring delivery of high quality, sustainable services

To be successful in this role you will have:

·         3+ years in a senior management role

·         Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Tetum language skills (desirable)

·         Experience working in the health sector in a developing country, preferable Timor Leste

·         Strong strategic management and relationship building skills

·         Flexible, patient and commitment to working in a low resource setting

·         A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. business, public health, international development, advocacy) or equivalent

·         Pro Choice
