Expressions of interest

The Democratic Republic of East Timor has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Education Sector Support Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services of Learning Materials Unit Advisor. The services include:

-         preparation of a situation analysis;

-         elaboration of a learning materials development, supply and utilization policy covering book and non-book resources; and

-         development of quality assurance mechanism to ensure appropriate quality of materials.

The assignment is planned for 6 continuous months with further extension by 2 months and is expected to commence in June 2011.

The Ministry of Education of the Democratic Republic of East Timor now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.). Qualification requirements are:

-         Experience in curriculum development and the preparation of school materials for publication;

-         Revious experience of writing learning materials and learning support materials;

-         Fluent oral and written Portuguese. Tetum and English are an advantage;

-         Previous experience in similar contexts.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004).
